Balancing them is important because several aminos are only taken from the bloodstream by a certain carrier. For example, I believe tyrosine and tryptophan are taken into the brain by the same amino acid transporter. Thus, too much tyrosine can cause a mild deficiency of tryptophan. Beyond that, I can't remember what aminos are taken up by what transporters. I would think a quick 10 minute google search would yield the answers you're searching for.
