Sarah:

I just picked up the Nature's Way brand last week at
a natural foods store. I got it because it was mixed with vitamins B-6, C, and zinc. I think those are supposed to help the 5-HTP work in the body? Anyway, I've been taking 100mg in the morn and 100mg at night. I have to say, it's beginning to be like my experiece with SAM-e. At first, I felt like there was a mild anti-anxiety effect for me. But...after 7 days...it's starting to wear off. Not like it was very strong to begin with. My feeling thus far is that 5-HTP is a very weak stimulator of serotonin, nothing more. It does not come close to matching the effects of SSRIs for me. I wish I could report something more hopeful. On a positive note, there don't seem to be any negative side effects from the 5-HTP thus far. I'll update you if I experience anything different.

Good luck,
Chris
