Hello Chris,
That's very interesting. A Pdoc I saw years ago told me about one of his patients that took 2000 mg/day. At that time SAMe had just come on the US market and was pretty expensive. I had a good response taking 400 mg/day right away, but eventually I began ramping up due to poop out. I eventually gave up on taking SAMe as a front line AD due to the cost. Well, since then, there are ways to get SAMe significantly cheaper, but I'm still running into the same problem (poop out). I'm wondering if I should go all the way to 2000 mg/day. Have you ever had success taking SAMe with an AD?
Tom
I took SAM-e on and off for about a year at doses probably up to 2000mg/day. Like you, it just did not seem to do much for me after a while, even at higher doses. It "pooped out" and I didn't notice much difference from 400mg to 2000mg. It was all the same. Seems like every non-pharmaceutical supplement I take is like that. SAM-e was one of the most effective for me though, although it was only like a very weak SSRI, kind of like a weak Wellbutrin, in my opinion.
