too muc hMagnesium?

Posted by Lushkins on January 18, 2005, at 13:32:09

I have been taking magnesium for anxiety/bipolar (mainly depression) for about to weeks. I usally take about 500mg to 1000mg a day. It seemed to work brillantly and really quickly. I noticed I had no heart palpitations for about a week. Now this could of course of been placebo. Because now (2 weeks later) I feel a bit cruddy and anxious. I was just wondering if I have been taking too much magnesium thus causing an adverse reaction or a deficancy in another mineral/vitamin, as I have read somewhere that this can happen with other supplements. I was thinking perhaps calcium as they are linked in some way. I have also noticed I am a bit lethargic and not full of energy like before. I usally play football (soccer) on Saturdays but this saturday I could hardly manage a half, and felt so drained afterwards. I was just wondering if you guys have any input (similar experiences), or am I just imagining things. I am also taking fish oil which I started before magnesium and this has defiantly helped.
