> Thank you SO much - it helps immensely. I haven't had any more test done yet - I have an appointment with an endocrinologist in October - But now I will have a whole list of things to talk to him about! Not just "hmmmm I am not feeling well" :)

Docs usually hate it if you go to them and say..I've got..it's way better to just tell them your symptoms..and then IF they don't suggest anything along the lins you may be thinking..then suggest what do you think of this idea..its best usually not to mention the net..but if you can print of a scientific article that refers to your symptoms, some people find this helps sometimes (it gives the doc an idea of what one is talking about if nothing else <grin>)

What some of us find is helpful is to spend a few weeks making a list of your symptoms..and take this to the appointment with you...I always forget what is wrong with me otherwise..mind just goes blank when in the surgery... so that's an idea if you don't do it already (most hypos have lousy short term memories and I'm completely thrown in the docs surgery)

> As far as the adrenal and cortisol goes - I was probably just grasping at straws on that - so I will wait until I see the Dr. before getting any tyrsoine and I never would have guessed on the vitamin C - I thought that one was always recommened high - I had a suspicion about the A & D...and I live in Texas - so no real cold weather here :)

> I have been reading a lot of the previuos thread you mentioned (and posted links to) and they are really helping give me some knowledge on where to go from here - so I think for now I will take your advise on the vitamins and then just wait until October - who knows by then I may be feeling so much better from just the vitamins.

> Oh and excersise - I am absolutely inactive these days (office Job) - well I do chase some two year old - more often I just lay in the floor and let them play on me! So excersise if certainly an area I HAVE to get better in - as soon as it starts getting a little cooler I will stick the kids in the stroller and walk - until then I think if I just spend 15 - 20 minutes dancing to the Wiggles (if you don't have toddlers don't even worry about getting this reference - I know I wouldn't have had a clue 3 years ago!) I'm sure the kids would think it was quite funny - WEll except my 15 year old - he would probably be SOOO embarassed for me - or by me - even if no one could possibly see me.
>

yeah, I'm educated, I know the wiggles..and I've got a 15 yr old nephew who'd lead the way,(he takes kids classes in Tae Kwon Doe)
I like to walk in the evening in summer..tad cooler

> Anyway thanks for listening again - after 9 years on numerous AD's I am finally trying to open my eyes a little and realize there is probably more going on, So I now have my Pdoc, who seems very good, a real thearpist for the first time (not just some one to chat with for an hour once a week - which is what happened the only 2 times I ever tried that) and soon I will have an endocrinologist - I think between the four of us maybe we finally get me some relief.

sounds good..good luck

> Well thanks for reading if you got this far - I very much appreciate your taking the time to respond.

If it was me, I'd get that test for ferritin ASAP(your local doc should be able to order one or you can order one yourself if you want to pay f you live in Texas I think)..as it could be that alone that may cause your problems(wishful thinking , but it's possible)..including psychiatric...one clue is do you get heavy longish periods(common with TSH above 3)..this may deplete your iron store.
Also the iron supps alone could be your whole answer..and you need to try for at least 3 months(it usually atkes at least 6 months and longer to build levels up)..so it would be great if you could find out now ..one way or the other.
In the meantime..it's great to see you've started on the vits /minerals etc.

Do you notice any difference as yet with the selenium or zinc or the combo you havew been taking..?
Oh, and the reason I suggested cutting from 200mcg to 100mcg selenium this week was I think every female I have heard of in the US found 200mcg was too high(all happy between 50 to 75 mcg I think)..at 200mcg dose it makes you feel more hypo..but it takes a few days to build up usually. One sign is sometimes a metallic taste in your mouth.

For males 75mcg-200mcg is fine..and if you live in other places..like NZ, Europe, England your dose need is higher..it depends on the soil content of where your food is mostly sourced. So a male living in Europe may be fine on 150-200mcg.
The appropriate dose (as with most supps/hormones/meds) also varies with your build.
