no, fortunately any kind of advertising (print, radio, TV,...) for prescription drugs is not allowed here in Germany. It's not like the pharmaceutical industry doesn't wield considerable power here - more so than in other European countries - but it doesn't go that far.I once saw a couple of these commercials on youtube, and the abilify one even ended with the sentence "so, if you blabla, go to your doctor and ask him for Abilify".. it's just immoral to exploit people's suffering like that...
As for the asterisking.. I don't get it, really. Would it have been fine had I written "sh*t"? Because that would mean that Dr. Bob supposes that users wouldn't recognize the word I actually used, because if they recognized it, they would be just as offended as if I had spelled it out correctly. Or are they like "damn I would have been offended had he put an i instead of an asterisk, but like that it's ok".. this is just ridiculous nonsense, and - I apologize in advance - again, this is so stereotypically American for me.. like people who say "oh my gosh" because God would be offended if I said "oh my god" or "what the hell".. I mean, come on, are you serious? If a person is offended by words that you'll find in every Webster, they have *serious* issues, and it's not my job to accommodate their absurd sense of decency.
