I've never taken Marplan, just parnate. I drink some, mostly white wine. Red wine and draft beers are no-no's because of tyramine. other than that, drinking heavily while on anti-depressants is not recommended for any AD, since alcohol is a depressant.
Avoiding cheese and aged meats isn't a hard thing to do. It's not like some extreme dietary restrictions - like no sugar, no carbs, no wheat. And small amounts of cheese are generally ok anyway - like some parmesan sprinkled on pasta - though probably best to avoid aged cheese altogether (mozzarella is not aged, so pizza is fine, if you like pizza). I actually eat cheese a lot, in small amounts - mostly on salads - greek with feta, caesar with parmesan. I've never had a problem, but I probably should be more careful.
The point is that the diet issues are not the big deal people make them out to be. If prozac isn't working, then what's the big deal with going off it for a while (the washout period) and starting something new?
