If you do take more than 9 mg and certainly if more than 12 mg, you should definitely go back to the food exclusions.

The food exclusions, which are not necessary at lower doses, are just as necessary at the higher doses of emsam as with other maois.

I imagine your doctor told you that, because you say she had a food reaction at 9 mg. That would be unusual, at least according to the FDA and the manufacturer-- although persumably it can happen if you eat enough tyramine.

But above that dose, everyone needs to be careful.
