I've taken Solgar brand folate (metfolin) and it decreases my libido just like most of the antidepressants I've tried, so I know it's doing something. (5-HTP is another supplement that does this to me.) Regular folic acid, which I've taken on and off for fifteen years, never had this effect on me. A lot of people have trouble converting B-vitamins into their active forms, so in addition to l-methylfolate, some other activated B-vitamins worth trying are P5P (B6), methylcobalamin (B12) and benfotiamine (B1). The benfotiamine was way too stimulating for me, but I'm hypersensitive to stimulants.
