You have to try a variety of the B's and related vitamins, including the common forms, the active forms, and combination forms. It's the only way to weed out the losers and identify the winners, both of which will be very different from one person to the next. In almost every case, singular vitamins aren't going to get the job done, in my opinion.

I take two different brands of vitamins because both have combinations of the common forms and active forms of all the various B's. Just as important are the carrier molecules or cofactors...in this case they are all the good stuff such as picolinate, methyl, glycinate. None of the worthless citric crap, oxide junk, and other common junk.

I've tried all of the ingredients of these vitamins separately over the years, and none were helpful, some were problematic. However when combined in a high quality product, I can actually feel benefit. So it's not any single vitamin such as folic acid or B12 or B6, but rather, the synergy of them all, including portions of their active forms, and the gold standard carrier molecules.

Something else to keep in mind is what my doctor explained to me. That is, health doses are far lower than therapeutic doses. For example, if 400 units of folic acid is considered 100% of daily requirement, that is what it takes to keep the body alive, not the amount it takes to heal something. When it comes to folate specifically, information gathered from lyme circles and psychiatry circles, the necessary doses are in the 1000s, not the 100s, such as, for example, 5000mg a day.

For someone to say they tried a double dose of B12 or folate or whatever, and didn't notice anything after a few days, is completely insignificant and meaningless. They barely even scratched the surface on several regards.
