I have never heard of this being done, even as far back as 1982. Of course, this doesn't mean that it hasn't been. I would think that clomipramine and imipramine were too much alike to be worth combining. However, combining desipramine and nortriptyline would have a rationale of sorts. At one time, it was thought that if an individual were responsive to one drug, they would be unlikely to be responsive to the other. The two drugs just might be complementary. The other drug that might be worth a look at is trimipramine. It is not a reuptake inhibitor as are the other tricyclics. Perhaps you could combine it with the TCA that has worked best for you.
