Bit of a late post, I realize, but that's almost exactly what I'm going through right now. People (by that I mean the general public and not the knowing participants here) tend to forget that mania isn't always happy. That irritability and anger along with energy and racing thoughts sound like classic manic symptoms to me. Try bipolar spectrum. Beware of antidepressants (at least not in conjunction with other stabilizers), as they are well known for making it worse.
