Stimulating drugs like amphetamine arent well suited to treating depression because tolerance builds. Some people say adding memantine helps with tolerance. Ive never tried it so I cant say for sure.
Even wellbutrin pooped out on me. Makes me wonder if these reuptake inhibitor or releaser drugs (especially those that boost catecholamines) become ineffective since theres a feedback mechanism in the brain. Too much neurotransmitter, back off on number of receptors so youre back to square one.
Might be better to try another approach. What about dopamine receptor agonists?
I hope youre not in the trap where hypomania is the 'norm' youre shooting for. Its not sustainable.
