None of my paradoxical reactions included sedation. Three benzos caused paradoxical reactions for me: Xanax, Clonazepam and Oxazepam. All I experienced was straight agitation and worsening of my anxiety.

Glad going without the valium produced good results. You may want to try Ativan-of the benzos its least likely to cause paradoxical reactions, which is why they hand it out like candy at phospitals.
