determining paradoxical reaction to valium

Posted by g_g_g_unit on December 24, 2011, at 5:24:44

I spoke to my psychiatrist about how I suspected I was having a paradoxical reaction to Valium. The only point of confusion for him was that when I tried going from 5mg to 10mg off-the-bat, it knocked me out for about an hour and I'd generally feel calm after that.

But I've been feeling CRAZY these past few days. 5mg left me with some discomfort, but 10mg has me physically writhing, extremely obsessive, agitated .. almost manic.

What's confusing is that I raised the Lexapro dose to 20mg not long before beginning Valium, so I don't know if I'm just less able to tolerate this new dose of Lexapro, or if indeed I am having a paradoxical reaction.

My psychiatrist suggested I skip a whole day on Valium to see if I feel better, but after having been on it for 2 weeks, won't I just go through acute withdrawal?
