I think eventually the brain may adjust and there may not be such an imbalance with SSRI monotherapy. Also, I think if you exercise regularly you may be able to maintain more of a balance. I just don't see any reason to take a tricyclic on top of an SSRI if you feel o.k. on the SSRI alone. Why add to the potential of side effects and make your liver work any harder than it has to?
