Well, you mentioned anafranil. Yeah, if you can handle the side effects, definitely. For a bit milder approach to accomplishing similar, combine zoloft/nortriptyline. I think it is wrong to think in terms of TCA versus SSRI...except in the case of amitriptyline and anafranil, I think most prescriptions should be for combinations of the two together. It's just my opinion I think it is a mistake to prescribe just one or the other (TCA or SSRI). Both norepinephrine and serotonin need to be boosted equally at the same time and the only way to do that is with anafranil, or ssri+tca combo. If you've never tried prozac, then I would put prozac/nortriptyline or prozac/desipramine on your list.
