Does it have to be a pdoc? Since rarely are they doing therapy any more (and that's not your focus right this minute) and they are scarce all overt the country, wouldn't there be a higher chance of success finding a GP, internist, etc to take care of your meds? There are just more of them.
Did you say your regular doc will or will not prescribe your benzo?
Also, your pharmacy will have a detailed listing of all your scripts - mine goes back 5 years. I can print it out myself on their website and/or ask them for it. This will give you a good record to show any type of doc how long you have been taking any med, at what doses, who prescribed, etc., if you are concerned they won't believe you.
I do empathize. I use Tricare which I have being retired military and they have been steadily reducing the percentage of reimbursements over the past 5-10 years. Understandably, doctors are more and reluctant to accept this. When I moved to where I live now I had to work pretty hard to find a doc who would take it. Not as bad a medicaire where you are, apparently, but I do relate.
Since you have been driving hours to see your retiring pdoc for so long, would you be willing to do the same for any type of doc? It stinks, but it may come to that.
I'll see if I can think of any other suggestions.
