Depends on the ER and the hospital as it seems quite a few don't have patience for what would be referred to as psych patients. If they have a psych unit someone might be called down to assess you. You would be asked who your doc is or was and call put in to them. If the doc thought you might be of danger to self or others based on last conversation or visit could hold for 72 hours. Or if no psych unit probably would call the doc also and same see what he/she says. You never know. Dispensing of controlled substances is different as I've seen on here in different states. Seems out West pain pills are used where here they are not unless surgery. Or cancer or what not hoping you figure out what to do. So Stanford has a waiting list? Where is Hubby?
