There is no response that can convince someone that you have really tried their positive-thinking method and had it fail, because the fact that you are still suffering proves to them that you haven't. It's especially hard when they are convinced you need more religion and try to convert you or get you to go to their church. My friend said to me this week that my method was "meds" and her method was Jesus, and so obviously mine was inferior. I don't see how meds and Jesus are mutually exclusive. I doubt that med use is nonexistent among believers, or that religion amounts to a surefire cure. I probably would have come across this surprising fact in the newspaper if it were true.
