As time changes, months and years go by, so does our body. Things don't stay the same. Aging, adaptations, outside influences, wear and tear, etc.
The brain goes through adaptations when on an antidepessant, and then other adaptations when off. Sometimes those adaptations can be longlasting or permanent, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.
If you were to research the archives deeply, you would find that some people can return to their previous antidepressant and experience the full benefits and the same side effects. Other people discover their antidepressant does not feel like it used to, does not work as well or at all, and the side effects are different or stronger.
So there is no way to predict. It certainly makes sense though to return to something that previously worked, before venturing into the unknown. My opinion.
