Actually, the drug is similar to gepirone, an investigative drug that has failed to be approved by the FDA. I believe that the reason buspirone can act as such a good augmenter of antidepressanats is because of its ability to act as a partial agonist (stimulator) of 5-HT1a receptors.

The article said that the drug company will submit vilazodone for approval later this year.
