>Maybe this is not what you are talking about, but the whole notion about Depression having some sort of romantic quality to it, and the fad that somehow people with depth/sensitivity/creativity (etcetc..) should be depressed is the subject of the excellent Dr. Peter Kramers latest book called "Against Depression" . In it, he argues no wayshould somebody have to endure such emotional pain and have some twisted kind of positive quality linked to it. Like, there is absolutely nothing pretty about depressionnothing romanticdepression is sharp, tender naked nerve-exposed pain in darkness and rain. Id rather have to try a million drugs then have to experience it. I did fight it with every dose, every talk-therapy session. My fav quote from a man who also suffered
from the "Black Dog", Winston Churchill:We shall go on to the end.............
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."Jay (open up a good ole' can of whoop-*ss!:-)
