Yes, I have. In fact, I took modafinil on and off -- mostly on -- for about two years. It worked well for me, was a great mood brightener for most of the time I took it, and I experienced no adverse effects for most of that time.
Until, after about two years, it started to increase my depression. It was a gradual thing, and I was on other meds by that time, but it was also a pretty pronounced thing, too.
During the period when it worked well for me, it was brilliant -- fewest adverse effects of any medication I had ever taken, cleanest AD response I'd ever had -- and I was quite sorry that it didn't continue in that manner. The only adverse effect I had was a funny sort of headache each day for the first few weeks -- not really painful, more like pressure on my skull, and it was regular as clockwork. I could nearly set my watch by it. Otherwise, only benefits for as long as it lasted.
