That's interesting Sigismund, it sounds very similar to my experience with modafinil in relation to...

* It can be calming or agitating, and was both for me at different times, which is why I stopped. It feels uplifting and not deadening.*

Although I'm not taking modafinil for depression (at the moment anyway), it helped me from the first dose (EDS and shift work.) I'm also on 5mg of clonazepam a day, which I'm tapering down now.

I've had no side effects from modafinil with the exception of feeling a little strange for the first few days which is hard to put into words...

Compared to SSRI's I don't get withdrawals if I miss a few days. I haven't stopped it, but having suffered from multiple bouts of depression over the years I think it would be a great idea for the medical profession to explore the possibilities of using it as an AD, which I think they are. I just know I would benefit from it in that aspect too. It just sucks because it's so expensive, but work aside, at least I'm getting out and about again in my spare time.

Is it available in Australia if I can't afford modafinil anymore? It might be a good option for me in the future.

Racer, have you tried modafinil? I'd be interested to hear your feedback on it if you have, and you too Quintal?

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this thread so you can b-mail me your replies if you like, so it can continue on it's way as Racer intended it too. C
