Hi Maxime,
My doc originally gave me first Effexor then Cymbalta to treat the ADD after not responding to stimulants and not being able to stand the desipramine.
That didn't work, so he proposed Effexor + desipramine. He said he has prescribed the combo before. I don't notice any side effects at all with the effexor, so I don't think it is that harsh.
For me, desipramine is harsh!
Yeah, I tried Strattera. Seemed promising but it kept waking me up after a couple hours of sleep at night. Got so sleep deprived that I could not stay on it.In fact, I've tried every single ADD drug. Now I'm going through the combos. Desipramine has been the only thing that works - and it works AMAZINGLY well for my ADD symptoms. The side-effects are just too much though. I can stay on it a few weeks at a time.
Oh - since I'm so non-responsive, my doc had me get an MRI and found that my left hippocampus is smaller than my right. He thinks that might have something to do with things, but he honestly admits he isn't sure, and he isn't sure what to do about it.Thanks.
