The good thing with stabilizers when they work for depressive bipolars is that they prevent depression. Lithium users try to find a blood level that balances benifits and side effects. Many side effects are usually transient... like brain fog.
Some people don't enjoy the limited emotional range... but those who stick with lithium appreciate the freedom from depression, mania and emotional instability./Netch
