I think sibutramine is considered to have broader action than an SSRI isn't it? It's also a powerful noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor, dopamine a little less so. Yes, it's odd sibutramine shows no antidepressant effects itself either - that's what the whole article is about.

I took it a few years ago with tramadol and had a spectacular antidepressant response though, but a terrible crash when I came off it. I still have some in my cupboard actually. I've never seen anything that suggests sibutramine causes weight gain in the longer-term, in fact it's often used successfully for several years at a time.
