I started at 15mg for 2weeks then jumped to 30mg. Was definitely sedated the first two weeks (Re: 10-12hr nights and a few naps). However it did get better as the time went on.
I'm currently on my second week of 30mg and sedation isn't a problem for me anymore. After the dose I'm definitely knocked out but I don't feel as though it's effecting me energy wise during the day. The munchies have also abated a good deal.
The only other med I'm currently on is Lithium (1200mg / .8 level). As a combo I'm feeling much better than I have in a long time (last trial was Neurontin + Tricyclics + Concerta + Lithium which sent me way out of my head). I still do have some strange existential thoughts every now and again but at least I'm motivated and happy. IMO the Remeron deserves the credit for the positive affect. Hopefully it'll keep working for me....
