An antidepressant alone, without a mood stabilizer, yes. However, I was on a mood stablizer with Paxil as the AD and I was fine- a good balance was found, then the Paxil did't seem strong enough at one point, and they switched me to Prozac- while still on the mood stabilizer, and a mania was still induced.
