Hi, again, want2breal.
Emsam does definitely have stimulant properties-- so yes, although the anti-depressant properties are different and manifest themselves more slowly-- there could be a more immediate stimulant effect.
If stimulants don't work well for you-- there's a chance that Emsam might not be the best med-- but on the other hand, it's too soon to know--
You undoubtedly have a lot of knowledge about how you react to different things. I have lots of problems with SSRIs-- and am highly reactive-- right away-- no question.
I took Emsam for about four months (June-end of Sept.) and did really well on it. It improved my mood, energy, and ability to handle social situations with more confidence-- I'd say I started noticing some benefits after a week to ten days. It was subtle-- but noticeable after I thought about how I felt about things- and this became stronger over the time.
Especially important, longterm, I made real progress in therapy--more than ever before-- and I think that contributed to the overall effect.
In October, I had a side effect from another medication , so I stopped Emsam, and I've restarted about five days ago.
But if you did really well on lexapro-- that might be the best. How long were you on it? was there a particular reason you stopped?
