Hi Dec

Sulpiride (Dolmatil) and amisulpride (Solian) are chemically similar but differ in potency ie. amisulpride is given at lower doses. Sulpiride and amisulpride appear to have a similar mechanism of action but some people respond better to one than the other. Hormonal side effects (due to hyperprolactinaemia) are very common with both drugs. Although generic amisulpride was recently introduced in the UK, sulpiride, an older drug, is still far less expensive.
