MAOIs...scare me. Mainly because increasing neurotransmitter levels seems to really make me feel worse. Since I can't handle even tame drugs without wicked side effects, I wonder how I would fare with an MAOI. My only experience with one was moclobemide and it sent me into a scary free-fall into darkness in less than a day. I worry about the seemingly high rate of MAOI poopout too.
ECT is scary to think about. I will learn more at a hospital orientation this week. No decisions until then. I do believe that if it happens I will ask for high dose unilateral instead of bilateral. I am an excellent guitarist and would like to keep the ability to think quickly on the fretboard.
Tianeptine...excellent suggestion. Since I respond poorly or paradoxically to reuptake inhibitors, tianeptine could be the ticket. I was going to order some a couple months ago and now wish I had.
Tuesday I have a pdoc meeting for a whole hour and we will discuss lots of things.
