Hi Willyee,

I know what you mean, but try not to take it personally. Often, I feel bad because I've gone out of my way to help someone. Sometimes I spend a lot of my time responding to someone and they don't even acknowledge my post with a simple "Thank you." My first thought is, "Hey, what about all those Civility rules? Isn't saying "thank you" the civil thing to do?" Then, after a while, I try to keep in mind that although I am not feeling well a lot of the time, there are others here who are in more distress than I am.

Sometimes when people don't respond, it's a simple oversight. Sometimes a thread gets "lost" or archived, so it's not readily seen if you're scanning the page quickly. Or maybe others don't know the answer. Sometimes people don't respond because they don't know what to say. Sometimes people are just so self-involved with their own difficulties, they don't (or can't) give to others.

I know it sounds as if I'm forgiving uncivil behavior. Or perhaps it sounds as if I'm making excuses for others. I don't mean to do that. What I mean is, we have to try to see where other people are or "where they're coming from." People can only give what they're capable of giving. Also, it's a very hectic time of year. The holidays can be so stressful, trying to please everyone, spending money on a tight budget, and trying to feel cheerful when we're not.
