In reply to Clonazepam+excercise=nausea?, posted by superman on November 6, 2005, at 22:36:15
I don't take clonazepam, but I have taken Effexor for anxiety before, and when I exercised, I would feel really bad afterwards, starting a few hours after the exercise, with stomach aching and headache. Often, I would feel depressed or anxious the day after. My anxiety would sometimes manifest itself in nausea.
I knew it was related to the meds- it had never happened to me before - and my pdoc said he never heard of the s/e, though he hypothesized it was maybe because exercise made me metabolize my meds more quickly , which was throwing me out of whack.
Regardless, over time I have learned to exercise in moderation (doing lower-impact exercise for longer has always been better than short duration, high-impact workouts), and to exercise only every other day so I can give my body the chance to recover and my meds a chance to get back to normal. I had to increase my medication dose very slightly as well once I started exercising regularly over a long period of time (6 months).
Hope you figure it out.
Best,
