Well I have both drank heavily and taken Effexor at the same time....
I don't know if alcohol lessens the effect of Effexor as in it actually lowers levels of it in your blood (or brain/however it works biochemically), or if it psychologically stops it working (if you understand what I mean).
But as far as I went it was fine, you just have to watch out because you get drunker quicker on less alcohol that you were used to (which took me unawares a couple of times!), and also you get worse hangovers. Or they FEEL alot worse anyway.
The leaflets always err on the side of caution I guess. but just take it easy.
