> Be careful if you start feeling a “body” buzz from Nardil. Like other antidepressants, MAOI's can precipitate a manic or hypomanic state in some individuals. The first time I took phenelzine, when it started to kick in, I would get a pleasant sensation that is best described as a tingly feeling in the scalp. This was followed by an antidepressant-induced hypomania where I needed very little sleep and took some large financial gambles that, in the long run, set me back quite a ways. This feel good sensation was very intoxicating for someone that had a hard time getting out of bed while suffering from severe atypical depression. You should have someone close to you watch for these signs of mania. You may have a hard time seeing it in yourself, or interpret it as a positive event after being ill.

> Afternoon drowsiness is a common side effect of phenelzine and will probably dissipate with time.Thats a really good point you make, very true, with Maois the relief of the depression in any way can make one unaware they are maniac,i.e talking A LOT,or over confidence.Biggest problem with this is usualy its a initial false sense of euphoria, rather than the true AD effect and unless its caught and treated there can be a crash resulting in worsen depression.
For me on nardil i remeber my maniac behaviour in the form of obsessiveness,i began to take on projects that were insignificant except to me where in my view plastering little hole in my wall seemed the utmost importance.
Parnates maniac episodes were more social,i felt overconfident and became socialy agressive.Again good point.
