HI- My sister is very ill with what I believe is SCHIZOPHRENIA. Her diagnosis used to be schizo-affective bi-polar. She has both pos and neg symptoms, the biggest being constant chatter of voice, constant talking/muttering to them, and paranoia. She lives in Salt Lake City. She is a beautiful girl - 43, a gifted brilliant artist. It is so sad to see her deterioration. It breaks my heart.
I am here now and she is off meds(for like a year ). She has been violent with me and rages and then can be very sweet. I AM AT A LOSS AS TO HOW TO GET HER THE TREATMENT SHE NEEDS. Is anyone in UTAH and know how to get around the laws that protect very ill people whae what they really NEED is to be hospitalized. It's the only way to stabilize them if they are refusing meds. I finally see that my sister is crazy and it is so sad and so much more than our family knows how to handle.
I have always been protective of my sister's dignity and rights but at this point....I don't care WHAT it takes - she needs to be in the hospital so that she can have a chance for those meds to kick in, in a CONTROLLED environment until she is well enough to begin to step back gradually into life
Also, what is the best psychiatric hospital in the US?
What is the latest and best drug?
I need a miracle.
PLEASE...your thoughts and experience, doc or patients.
Thanks
MAGEE
