Two months of hell on that one. Had the same symptoms trying Effexor XR, low dose, opening up capsules and counting pellets. Cymbalta at 5mg was better, but while I had much more energy, it didn't do anything for depression or pain at that dose.

It could be that the combo of traz with the SSRIs made the serotonin overload type symptoms worse, but I needed the traz to sleep. The Effexor XR was tried without being on trazodone, so I think I'm just sensitive to the SSRI effect.

You know, I was on Prozac for nine years. I never attributed the insomnia or the extreme pain in my neck and shoulders to the drug. I saw chiropractors, pain specialists, had two cervical epidurals, trigger point injections, everything. And then I switched from Prozac to Effexor and the pain in my neck pretty much went away. I started falling asleep in half an hour instead of two -three hours also. I can't believe I went through that. Even after switching to Effexor and getting relief, when I'd tell that to my doctors, they'd act like I was crazy. They'd "never heard of" muscle tension as a side effect of Prozac. Too bad the Effexor quit working after 4-5 years.

I still get the muscle tension on any SSRI. I take half doses of Celexa because of that issue. I sleep fine now except I wake up too early often. I'll take that over inability to fall asleep anyday.
