The sedation wears off after a few weeks in my experience, but I dont experience heavy sedation from it to begin with.
For me, the lowest effective dose was 7.5mg, but that is probably very individual. I take it at 15mg now, which I find very effective. Keep in mind I am a relatively heavy smoker, which results in a significant drop in blood levels of the drug. Im not sure if at low doses it targets mainly autoreceptors, or if that is a special property of only certain APs. I do know that dopamine agonists in general are skewed towards the autoreceptor, but I dont know if that is relevant for antagonists. As for other receptors it antagonizes; D1-4, 5HT-2,3,6, H1, alpha-1, and muscarinic receptors (so it is a bit anticholinergic in theory, but in practice that doesnt seem to be a major problem).
