Nort is more likely to cause drowsiness that desipramine but I think it would tend to wear off after a few days/weeks- it wouldn't be as bad as ami.>>

This is exactly correct. Ed is also right about the list of side effects on every PI sheet for nortriptyline that I've seen- they list every side effect reported for tri- and tetracyclic AD's, including amoxapine, which is a combination AP/AD.


I would give it a try- I think highly of this med, as it's the one drug I haven't discarded over the years. From what Ed and I have dug up on Pub Med (or the British equivalent thereof)nortriptyline is less likely than nortriptyline to cause galactorrhea.

Another med you could try is protriptyline but this has a shakier repuation as an AD than either desipramine or nortriptyline.
