I was diagnosed with MD and put on Topamax for headaches. While I was on it I never had any problems with mania. But once I went off of it I started rapid cycling. Next I was put on Depakote, which stopped the cycling. But due to side effects (weight gain) I went back on Topamax. Once again, no problems with cycling. But now I've taken myself off again and I haven't had any problems.
That's my story, probably not much help, but it boils down to this: no problems with cycling while on Topamax.Goodluck,
