Cymbalta vs. weight gain

Posted by Chriscl on January 25, 2005, at 15:49:04

Hi - I've tried most antidepressents and without much success. Currently I'm taking 150mg of Lamictal and 30mgs of Cymbalta. I have to say Cymbalta has reduced my depression for the first time in years!!

I've been on Cymbalta for 6 months now at 60mg. Because it increased my blood pressure, I recently went down to 30mg. I have noticed that since I've been on Cymbalta, I'm gaining about 1/2 pound per week and have now gained about 13 pounds since being on it. :-( I'm thinking it might be the Cymbalta because I was on Lamictal with no issues prior to being on both Cymbalta and Lamictal. Also, over the past month I've really been exercising a lot and watching my daily calorie intake and I'm still gaining weight. In fact, I'm eating less and more healthy stuff over the past month than before and have gained another 2 pounds over the past 2 weeks.

Has anyone else experienced weight gain with Cymbalta?

ps - I take Cymbalta at night. Could that cause the weight gain.....meaning should I take it during the day??

Thanks for reading!

Chris
