Hello Matt!
>well im 17..
There are a lot of young people on babble. I guess we're the internet generation. I'm 20 btw.
>What is exactly commiting yourself?
It means to be taken on to a psych ward. In England, people use the word 'committed' to mean that someone is not a voluntary patient ie. they are detained against their will- I'm not sure whether it means the same thing in Texas. Anyway, if you ask to be admitted to a psych ward, you wouldn't be forced to do anything. Do you go to a psychiatrist? If you do, ring him/her tomorrow and say that you're ill. If you feel that you need to be admitted to hospital then say so. If not, ask to see your pdoc asap.
You will not be locked up unless you are a serious danger to yourself or others. I think that it is *extremely* unlikely that you'd be locked up.
Best Wishes,
Ed.PS. Please tell us what you decide to do. What are your symptoms at the moment?
