Re: Klonopin + Parnate +/- Ritalin

I have taken ritalin and dexadrine while on relatively high doses of Parnate (70-90mg). My pdoc has a lot of experience w/MAOIs and he says there is really no problem w/combining a stimulant w/Parnate. The warning not to combine the two is really, in my and my pdoc's experience, another overblown MAOI warning. Still, you should always proceed w/caution and add Ritalin slowly.

As a side note, I have tried talking Klonopin and Ritalin together (I believe I was taking Parnate as well at the time) and had some mixed results. At first it seemed to work better than just about anything. The Klonopin took care of my social anxiety while the ritalin took care of the fatigue from klonopin and gave me some pep. Eventually, though (after a few weeks) I crashed hard and got really depressed. I think that ultimately combining klonopin (which is kind of a downer) with Ritalin or Dexedrine (uppers) pulled me in 2 different directions and is more than my body and mind could handle. I don't usually do well with uppers (Ritalin, dexedrine, etc.), so you may do better than I did.

Good Luck
