The transition has gone much smoother than I expected. I started ramping up on Lamictal while ramping down the Effexor. Was on 300mg for 3+ years. After 3 weeks I am just went down to 75mg today. Hope to be off in another two weeks. Still working up to a theraputic dose on Lamictal and having some breakthrough depression and major mood swings. Nothing major though at this point. Staying in close contact with Pdoc just in case. (had major SI problems due to Effexor which I did NOT have before).
Several drs (non pdocs) have all said that Lamictal is relatively benign as far as side effects and no discontinuation problems. I sura am hoping that's the case.
