I withdrew from 225 mg of Effexor XR. I had only moderate withdrawal until I went below 37.5 mg. Then it got difficult, and I had to take several months to get from 37.5 to zero mgs.
I'd cut down to 37.5 mg like your doctor suggests and then hold at 37.5 for a while. After that, go very, very slowly to zero.
