I know what you are talking about - the anxiety and fear that we won't measure up and succeed can be overwhelming at times. I just want to say to you, however, that you appear to be a talented, intelligent, well-read and articulate individual. I have read your posts, and have always been impressed by your wealth of knowledge, your inquiring mind and your ability to put forth ideas and concepts. So, I guess what I am trying to say is that you need to try to change the "tapes" in your head that are telling you that you can't do it. You are young and talented, you just need to find an outlet for your anxiety and work on changing the negative self-talk into positive self-talk. I know it is easier said than done, but with practice and perserverance, you can achieve almost anything. Don't give up on yourself. And, remember, the only one you have to prove anything to is yourself.
Take care.
