I have been taking Eldepryl/L-Deprenyl/Selegeline for about 3 weeks now. It took about 10 days to start working, but now seems to be making social anxiety worse, in a manner similar to that caused by Ritalin where I have an excessive amount of self-consciousness.
I was sure Selegeline would be the answer to cure Social Phobia because there is a dopaminergic theory of social phobia & because I used to take Dextrostat(d-amphetamine) or even street methamphetamine both of which helped greatly with social phobia. Why would amphetamines (which also release the bad norepinephrine in addition to dopamine) help with social phobia but selegeline (which exclusively increases dopamine) cause anxiety/social phobia?
Also, I take DLPA 500 mg every morning. I was sure that DLPA, since it converts to PEA when you are taking Selegeline, would cause a glorious Dextrostat feeling but it mainly causes dysphoria, nervousness & slight paranoia. What gives?
I am thinking of ditching the Selegeline & after a 2 week washout period, switching to a low dose of generic Prozac (10 mg) since SSRIs do seem to be the only drugs besides alcohol (the best) & amphetamines (2nd best) to have any real effects on sociability. But, when I was in college on Zoloft 100 mgs I almost failed myself out of school because SSRIs seem to diminish your short term memory (& after a few months I became manic) & since my job is intellectually demanding, taking a dumb drug could get me fired.
