can i take an ssri/snri with a beta blocker?

Posted by sageblue on August 11, 2004, at 10:01:18

Ok -- I did a little self medicating. Propanolol made me depressed, so I told my doc I would stop it and asked to try effexor. Well, effexor didn't help the migraines at all, so I tossed Propanolol back into the mix. Bingo. Not tired and depressed, and no migraine.

BUT -- I do feel sometimes odd after taking the effexor. And I saw on a website that taking propanolol with an antidepressant can sometimes lead to 'toxic buildup' of propanolol.

Now, I feel reasonably well, and I do have an appt. with my dr. in a few weeks. But I'm wondering, is anyone else taking a beta blocker with an SSRI? Or effexor with propanolol?
